How to use the blush to contour your face

Lots of people ask me how to use the blush in the right way, so I decided to create a brief tutorial on how to use it.

The pictures are not the best, but, it gives the idea.

I didn't do a lot of types, only the most commun ones, but, if your type isn't here, email me then I'll post the format, and how to contour it.

Q: How do I know which format my face has?

A: To determine your shape, pull your hair back, look in the mirror, and draw your facial outline with lipstick or damp soap into the mirror. Done! This way is easier to see the shape of your face, but, usually people already have an idea...

Aplying the blush in the simplest way:

In front of the mirror, after having prepared your face with foundation, concealer and powder, the easiest way to find the right spot where to apply the blush is smiling. The proeminent part of your face is where the blush goes. Apply from the hairline towards the cheeks.

The blush must be two fingers away from the nose line. Don't apply it on your entire cheek! If you think you've gone too far, simple cover the excess with compact powder. It's easier than taking it off, and starting it all over again.

In this picture you get the notion where you should apply the blush. The strong color is only being used to show the right spot.

Applying the highlighter: can be applied very lightly between eye and blusher to give an almost invisible sheen. It accents and highlights both eyes and cheekbones. If you don't have a highlighter, you can use eyeshadow, in pearls and bright tones (NOT GLITTER).

And this is the correct application for the oval face as well, which is also the most commun shape.

Diamond shape:

Blush (pink): is used in small area close to the hairline about the cheekbone line.
Darker blush (red): Use a darker blush colour in the area in front of ear area. Blend well with a good blush brush. This will reduce width across the face.
Highlighter (yellow): use just a touch up near the forehead hairline and on either side of the chin area.

Heart shape:

Blush (pink): applied on cheeks.
Darker blush (red): Use a darker blush colour near ear up past eyebrow as shown on drawing by the red.
Highlighter (yellow): is used just above blush and down on sides of jaw to increase width across the lower jawline and between eye and blush.

Square shape:

Blush (pink): Use blush softly on cheekbones, to give softness and warmth to face.
Darker blush (red): Use darker blush carefully give a shadow effect on squareness of the jawline which is often predominant, and also on forehead above the temples.
Highlight (yellow): is used between eye and blush to highlight eyes and cheekbones, and can be also used on the forehead.

I hope the explanation is clear. If you have any doubt, please leave me a comment.

Buying from The Body Needs

So I got the guts to place international orders, and I decided that was about time to buy my MAC pigments available on The Body Needs (http://www.thebodyneeds.com/), and then I ordered my MAC pigments.
I'm very afraid of being taxed, but, well, let's see what happens!
The price for shipping was almost the price for the order , but I didn't feel like buying a lot of pigments, because I want to know how it works first.
Afterall, it was cheaper than buying from suppliers here in Brazil, where some pigments can cost about R$15,00, and from The Body Needs it cost $1.59 (some are more expensive), even tough it's not the full jar like MAC sells.
I chose the following pigments:

Photobucket
3D Silver

Photobucket
Basic Red

Photobucket
Crystalled Yellow

Photobucket
Deep Blue Green

Photobucket
Steel Blue

The total amount was $7.95, and for shipping was $5.95, and in real is R$22,90. I didn't think it was that expensive, considering it's MAC...
Now I just have to wait 3-4 weeks, and then I'll post the looks using these products.

Mineral Make-Up

Since I've never used mineral make-up and always wanted to try it, I decided to go to the Everyday Minerals website (www.everydayminerals.com), and place an order for a free sample kit(tutorial on how to place orders for a free sample kit can be found on the Vende na Farmácia blog http://vendenafarmacia.blogspot.com/2008/07/tutorial-da-creide-como-escolher-o-kit.html), to try their products.
You can choose your own kit with three types of foundation, one blush and one concealer, and it's very important to read the description for each product first, because the range of products is huge! Awsome!
I ordered the following products:

Foundation:

Photobucket
Soft Butter Peach Intensive formula

Photobucket
Golden-Fawn Original Glo formula

Photobucket
Golden-Golden Fair Matte formula

Blush:

Photobucket
New Smell Car

Concealer:
Photobucket
Multi-Tasking Concealer

The kit is for free, but the shipping isn't, so, be prepared!
As soon as I receive my products, I'll post the reviews.

And here's the description about the differences between the types of formula for the foundations, from Everyday Minerals website:

Original Glo gives your face that added touch of dewiness and long lasting coverage, and is ideal for normal to dry skin.

Semi-Matte is a more subtle glow formulated for normal to combination skin.

Matte, provides a silky smooth matte finish that is ideal for normal to oily skin.

Intensive, ideal for all skin types, provides a silky near-matte finish and controls oil where needed without drying your skin. We suggest mixing and matching formulas so you can make all the right beauty choices to fit your personality and time of year.
